DC Kulgam visits accident-prone Manigam Crossing on NH-44; Reviews Road Safety Measures

KULGAM, MAY 12: Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Shahzad Alam today visited the accident-prone Manigam Crossing on National Highway-44 to assess the prevailing situation and review the remedial measures required under road safety initiatives.

During the visit, the DC took a comprehensive stock of the existing infrastructure and safety arrangements at the site.

While interacting with the residents, the DC patiently listened to their concerns regarding the frequent road accidents at the location. The residents demanded the construction of a separate service road from Manigam Crossing to Nipora Crossing to streamline traffic movement and improve commuter safety.

The Deputy Commissioner acknowledged the seriousness of the issue and directed the concerned engineering wings to conduct a detailed feasibility study and submit a comprehensive proposal for the development of a service road along the stretch.

He also stressed the need for immediate interim safety measures, including installation of proper signage, road markings, speed regulation mechanisms, and improved visibility arrangements to prevent further mishaps.

The Deputy Commissioner assured the public that all necessary steps would be taken on priority to minimise accident risks and ensure safer movement for commuters along the highway stretch.
