
RAJOURI, MAY 11: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma, a mega awareness event was organised today here at District Deaddiction Centre (DDAC) as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) 100-Day Campaign.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from recovered individuals, officials, inmates and members of the Civil Society, besides officials from the stakeholder departments. A series of awareness, motivational and recreational activities were organised at the event to educate and encourage participants towards leading a drug-free life.
The event commenced with a pledge ceremony wherein all participants took a solemn pledge and reaffirmed their commitment towards building a drug-free society.
A guided yoga session was also conducted to promote physical fitness, mental calmness and overall well-being among the participants.
HoD Psychiatrist GMC & AH, DySP Headquarters and SHO delivered insightful lectures on measures to prevent drug menace. The speakers highlighted the psychological impact of substance abuse, social and legal consequences, preventive measures and rehabilitation support mechanisms being implemented under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
The participants also shared their feedback regarding the positive impact of counselling sessions, awareness activities and rehabilitation support on their behaviour and lifestyle. Recovered individuals also delivered motivational addresses, inspiring the participants with their stories of transformation, resilience and hope for a better future.
To encourage emotional expression and positive engagement, a musical programme was organised featuring playing of different musical instruments.
A special “Wall of Hope” display was also inaugurated by the parents of patients, marking an emotional and encouraging moment at the programme.
The display featured messages of hope, recovery and positivity along with DIY items prepared by inmates, showcasing their creativity, efforts and rehabilitation journey.
The event also featured several fun and recreational activities including Book Balance, Tug of War and Spoon Balancing competitions aimed at improving focus, coordination, teamwork and active participation among the participants.
An awareness session on self-employment schemes and livelihood opportunities was conducted by the Deputy Director, District Employment & Counselling Centr, who informed the participants about various skill development programmes, government-sponsored schemes and loan facilities aimed at promoting rehabilitation through economic independence.
Principal ITI, District Social Welfare Officer, District Youth Services & Sports Officer, District Cultural Officer, besides other officials also attended the programme.
