
SRINAGAR, APRIL 25: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar today organized an awareness program under the guidance of Haq Nawaz Zargar, Chairman DLSA (Pr. Distt. & Sessions Judge), Srinagar and overall supervision of Secretary DLSA, Srinagar at the Legal Literacy Club, Mujgund, aimed at sensitizing students and the local community on important legal and social issues.
The program featured informative sessions delivered by learned panelists. Zeenat Nazir, Deputy Legal Aid Defense Counsel (LADC) addressed the gathering on the growing menace of drug abuse, highlighting its harmful impact on individuals, families, and society.
Emphasis was laid on preventive measures, early intervention, and the role of youth in combating substance abuse.
Adv. Sabiya Kaunsar, Pro Bono lawyer delivered an insightful talk on the Motor Vehicles Act and road safety rules. The speaker stressed the importance of responsible driving, adherence to traffic regulations, use of helmets and seat belts, and the legal consequences of violations.
Further Safa, Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel (LADC) spoke on the rights of the third gender, focusing on legal recognition, protection against discrimination, and various welfare measures available under the law. The session aimed to promote inclusivity, equality, and respect for all individuals irrespective of gender identity.
The program witnessed active participation from students and faculty members, who appreciated the initiative and engaged in interactive discussions with the speakers.
DLSA Srinagar reiterated its commitment to spreading legal awareness and empowering citizens through such outreach programs.
