Awareness Talk on “Drug and Substance Abuse organised at GCW Parade

JAMMU, APRIL 21: Government College for Women (GCW), Parade Ground Jammu successfully today organized an awareness talk on “Drug and Substance Abuse”. The event was graced by Ms. Anna, SP Headquarters as the chief guest and keynote speaker.

SP Headquarters highlighted the alarming rise in substance abuse among youth and emphasized the need for awareness, vigilance and collective responsibility in combating this growing menace. She sensitized the students about the harmful effects of drugs, legal implications and the importance of making informed and healthy life choices.

The programme commenced with a formal welcome address by NCORD Coordinator Dr. Archana Gupta, who underscored the relevance of such initiatives in educational institutions. The event also included an interactive session with the resource person, during which students actively engaged with Ms. Anna, seeking guidance and clarifying their concerns.

A pledge against drug abuse was administered during the programme, wherein all students and faculty members collectively resolved to stay away from drugs and to contribute actively towards building a drug-free society.

The Principal of the college Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo reiterated the institution’s dedication for organizing such awareness programmes aimed at fostering a safe, healthy and drug-free environment for students.
