
SHOPIAN, FEBRUARY 6: The two-day Krishi Udyami Training Programme organized by the Agriculture Department, Shopian at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Shopian, concluded today with a focus on strengthening agri-entrepreneurship and enhancing farmer’s income through value addition and market-oriented approaches.
The training programme was designed to equip Krishi Udyamis with practical knowledge on agri value chains, brand packaging, digital marketing strategies and business development for agri-based enterprises, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), start-ups and rural entrepreneurs.
Head KVK Shopian, Dr. Zaffer Ahmed Badri while speaking on the occasion, highlighted the objectives of the training programme stated that KVK is committed towards capacity building, innovation and promotion of sustainable agrientrepreuship in the district. He delivered a comprehensive session on scientific orchard management, sensitising Krishi Udyamis and orchardists about the need for timely and judicious use of recommended pesticides to effectively prevent scab and other orchard- related diseases. He stressed strict adherence to scientifically approved spray schedule, balanced use of agro-chemicals and adoption of integrated disease and pest management practices to safeguard orchards from diseases.
Dr. Badri further emphasized the adoption of modern scientific technologies to improve fruit quality and ensure sustainable and profitable horticulture in the district.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, wherein participants shared feedback and were encouraged to effectively utilize available government schemes for strengthening their agri-based ventures.
Among others, the programme was attended by officers from Agriculture Department, scientists from KVK and Krishi Udyamis of the district.
