DC Bandipora holds Public Darbar at Sumbal Reviews facilities at Transit Accommodation Odina

Bandipora, February 06: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, on Friday convened a special public darbar at Dak Bungalow, Sumbal, with participation from delegations representing Sonawari, members of the Trade Federation, civil society representatives, PRI members, social activists, and officers from various line departments.

 

During the public darbar, the Deputy Commissioner patiently listened to the grievances and concerns raised by various delegations and assured them of timely redressal in coordination with the concerned departments. On the occasion, she also urged the public, PRI members, and representatives of various delegations to actively participate and extend cooperation in strengthening waste management initiatives, emphasizing shared responsibility in maintaining cleanliness and environmental hygiene.

 

Representatives from Civil Society Sonawari, Tehsil Coordination Committee Hajin, PRI members from different blocks of Sumbal Sub-Division, Municipal Committee Hajin, Municipal Committee Sumbal corporators, and delegations from Nowgam, Ganastan, Naidkhai Block, and Sumbal Block raised issues related to development works, civic amenities, and basic public services, including concerns pertaining to local connectivity and access, particularly for residents of Sumbal town.

 

The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to take immediate action on genuine issues and emphasized the need for strengthening inter-departmental coordination to ensure effective public service delivery. She reiterated the district administration’s commitment to addressing public concerns at the grassroots level through such outreach initiatives.

 

Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited the Transit Accommodation at Odina, Sumbal, where she interacted with migrant employees residing at the facility and reviewed the available amenities to ensure adequate standards of safety, convenience, and welfare. She also took stock of the arrangements being put in place for the forthcoming Maha Shivratri festival at Odina.

 

The Deputy Commissioner sought feedback from the migrant employees and assured them that all genuine issues would be addressed promptly, reiterating the administration’s commitment towards their well-being.

 

Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sumbal and other senior sectoral officers were present on the occasion.
