Air Marshal Makarand Ranade took over as Director General (Inspection and Security).

Jammu: Air Marshal Makarand Ranade today assumed charge as Director General (Inspection and Security) [DG (I&S)] at Air Force Headquarters, New Delhi.

Air Marshal Makarand Ranade, an alumnus of the National Defence College, New Delhi and the College Interarmie de Defence in Paris (France), was commissioned in the combat wing of the Indian Air Force on 06 December 1986. During his more than 36 years of service, he held many important regional and staff positions. including command of a fighter squadron and two flying stations. He has been Director Staff at the Tactics and Air Combat Development Establishment as well as the Defence Services Staff College. He has also served as Air Attaché at the Indian Embassy in Kabul, (Afghanistan). His staff appointments at the Air Force HQ included Director, Personnel Officer, Principal Director, Air Force Personnel Inspection Directorate and Assistant Chief Air Force Operations (Space ) are included. Prior to his present appointment, he has also been Senior Air Staff Officer at HQ Western Air Command, New Delhi.
