Jammu: Dengue sting took the life of another patient from Udhampur. Charan Das (52), resident of Ward 1 (near railway station) of Udhampur, died in GMC Jammu. Family members allege that he had almost recovered when he was admitted to the hospital, but he lost his life due to lack of proper treatment.
Despite availability of blood, doctors did not transfuse platelets. On Wednesday, 13 new cases of dengue were found in Udhampur. So far, three people have died due to dengue in this district. One case of death was also reported on Tuesday. Earlier a woman had died. 71 new cases of dengue were found in the state on Wednesday, this figure has reached 1813.
Madan Lal, a resident of Udhampur ward, said that when he reached District Hospital Udhampur on Sunday with brother Charan Das, his platelet count had reached 15,000, but due to lack of platelet facility there, he brought him to GMC Jammu. It is alleged that even an ambulance was not available in Udhampur hospital.
Here, when the platelets were low, he arranged for four bottles of blood and kept asking the doctors repeatedly for platelet transfusion, but no one showed seriousness. Charan Das’s stomach was filled with water and he was constantly asking the doctors for the same, but did not look carefully. When his condition became serious, he was kept in ICU for some time, after which he was shifted to emergency ward two. But, he died at 5 am on Sunday.
