NEEDFUL STEP

NEEDFUL STEP

The step taken by Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) with regard to deferment of computer-based written tests (CBT) for various posts is a prudent one because people, especially the job aspirants were reluctant over the issue of hiring the allegedly tainted company in the process. The helmsmen should revisit their decision with regard to giving responsibility of conducting recruitment processes in J&K in association with a previously blacklisted company. Though the chairman of the aforesaid Board has recently cleared the air by saying that the company in question is not blacklisted as on date but what is the fun of hiring a company which has a dark past. Surely, it is matter for investigation why the aforesaid company has been given preference when already many recruitment exams in the past in J&K were marred with controversies and central probing agencies are probing the matter with reportedly many irregularities coming to fore. It is pertinent to mention that the written examination to fill up vacant posts in various government departments was scheduled from March 16 to April 5 but the aforesaid computer based examinations have now been postponed till further orders. Obviously, the decision of the JKSSB has been hailed by many including the aspirants for jobs but the big question is still haunting those who are concerned over the developments taking place in this regard that whether the government will allow the ‘tainted’ company to continue or there will be a change in status because the protesting lot of job aspirants is in no mood to budge and allow the previously blacklisted company to help the JKSSB in conducting the aforesaid exams in future. The cancellation of the aforesaid exams was one of the four demands of job aspirants as other ones include removal of APTECH from conducting government recruitments, technical investigation into exams conducted by the agency and a strong law against those involved in paper leak scams. The JKSSB has taken a right decision and there is no harm in considering other demands of the job aspirants sympathetically because more or less the other demands are also genuine and need to be addressed on priority.
