J&K: Rain and snowfall predicted in the state till January 10, Leh-Ladakh in the grip of cold wave

There is no respite from the severe cold in the state. Cold wave continues in almost parts of Jammu and Kashmir. For the second consecutive day in Jammu, the mercury remained below ten degrees. The night temperature remained below zero in all parts of the valley. Train and rail services are continuously affected due to low light in the fog.

According to the Meteorological Center Srinagar, there are chances of rain and snowfall in some parts of the state from January 7 to 10. Fog remained in Jammu on Saturday as well. In case of bad weather, the Mughal Road along the Jammu-Srinagar and Srinagar-Leh National Highways may be hit.

It was cloudy in most parts of the state on Saturday along with Friday. The morning started with partly cloudy sky in Jammu. During this, there was fog in the city and surrounding areas. The weather did not improve much as the day progressed. The cold has increased the shivering.

Compared to the previous days, the crowd of buyers in the markets was less due to cold. People took all measures to avoid the cold. Power cuts in the harsh winter are adding fuel to the fire. In Jammu, the day temperature dropped 8.2 degrees Celsius from normal to 9.9 degrees Celsius and last night’s minimum temperature was 3.7 degrees Celsius.

Last night’s minimum temperature was 5.4 degrees Celsius in Banihal, 3.6 in Batote, 4.6 in Katra and 0.6 in Bhaderwah. The capital Srinagar and other districts remained cloudy throughout the day. It seems that in the next 24 hours there may be snowfall in many areas with rain. The day temperature in Srinagar was recorded at 6.0 degree Celsius.
