REVISIT DECISION
The minority community employees posted in Kashmir Valley including Kashmiri Pandits and reserved category staffers should revisit their decision to continue protest in Jammu and not join their duties back in Valley as no government can afford to pay the perks to employees unless they perform and attend their duties at their respective places of posting. In this regard the LG Manoj Sinha has openly warned the work force which is on strike for months together and are reluctant to rejoin their duties in Valley which they left after the targeted killings of minority community employees posted in Valley. There is no doubt that the situation out there is not perfectly alright but there are so many other employees who are non natives and despite this fact are fulfilling their obligations as staffers of the government as is the case of security personnel who work under the most stressful and risky conditions. Simply saying that there is a threat to their lives is not a valid reason not to attend to their duties. In this context, the LG has come up with the right move of withholding the salaries of all such employees who have not joined their duties despite frequent appeals and warnings by the people sitting at helm. The matter is clear that the employees will get perks on if they attend their duties or else they are not entitled for the same and that is what the LG has averred during a press conference invoking heated response from the concerned quarters in the employees’ camp. When the government is assuring that there is no more threat to the lives of employees, there is no reason to doubt the statement because the government knows about the real situation on ground and defying the orders is annoying and that is the reason behind LG taking some harsh steps in the matter of aforesaid employees. It is intriguing that despite governments sincere efforts in mitigating almost all the problems of aforesaid employees these adamant staffers are not in a mood to budge and join duties back in Valley. Under such a face-off, the employees should remain ready for any kind of response from the Government side as running the business is the sole aim of people sitting at helm and they will do everything to ensure efficacy in J&K as far as government business is concerned.
