JUSTICE DELIVERED

JUSTICE DELIVERED

The decision taken by the J&K administration over removing Urdu language from the written examination of Naib Tehsildar is the much sought after one as this will provide justice to the youth of Jammu region, who were earlier at loss due to lack of knowledge of the aforesaid language. Reportedly the J&K Government is about to advertise the posts of Naib Tehsildar and the decision of removing Urdu as mandatory language bar will open floodgates for hundreds of youths to prove their mettle as earlier they used to miss this change due to Urdu language barrier. The decision has won accolades from different parts of the UT as a young lot has been given the opportunity which under the successive regimes was denied to them giving a clear cut edge to those having knowledge of this language. The Jammu and Kashmir administration especially the Revenue Department for ensuring that the educated youth who don’t learn Urdu are also able to appear in the examinations. It is pertinent to mention that the Services Selection Board hasn’t received vacancies of the Naib Tehsildars for advertisement and initiating selection process but the vacancies are being identified and could be advertised shortly. Mandatory knowledge of Urdu language used to deprive a large number of educated youth of several districts of Jammu region where they don’t keep Urdu as a subject and learn Hindi. Thus, they were deprived of appearing in the exams and becoming the Naib Tehsildars, an important post in the Revenue Department. With this significant change, now whenever the examination for the post of Naib Tehsildars will be held, the youth of major parts of Jammu region will also get an opportunity to appear. This decision therefore is historic as from now onwards the era of partiality in J&K in this regard has been removed and the era of justice is ensured for one and all. This is another benefit of scrapping Article 370 because had this contentious Article of the Constitution not been removed there was no chance for the youths of Jammu region to get a fair-deal in the aforesaid examination. It is a known fact that earlier, the posts of Naib Tehsildars were virtually confined to Kashmir division and few districts of Jammu region where students keep Urdu as subjects as others were denied opportunity to appear in these exams.
