ROPE IN BORDER DWELLERS
It is always said that the people living near the borders have a greater role to play in sensing the trouble and at times engaging the adversaries to give ample time to country’s forces to execute counter attack or deal with the situation as per the need. It has been seen in the past in Ladakh, Jammu and other border sectors that the local dwellers acted as the first informers of the developments taking place on the other side of borders whether it is in Pakistan, China or even Bangladesh. No one in the country can deny this significant fact and that is the reason the government of India wanted to ensure that the border dwellers remain at their present places and for this every facility is being provided along the line of control, line of actual control and the international border be it mobile connectivity, government schools, PHCs, etc. Looking into the drone menace by Pakistan, it is necessary that the people living near the borders should be asked to remain cautious of any suspicious activity on ground or in skies because rogue nation on the western side of the country has been indulging in number of illegal activities using the drone technology reportedly acquired from China, and few other countries to dent the interests of India. The extent of Pakistan’s deception level is so much so that today only the Jammu and Kashmir police along with the special operations group recovered one sealed package in the field near Chhani Manhasan in the Vijaypur area of J&K’s Samba allegedly dropped by a Pakistani drone from across the border containing one steel Improvised Explosive Device (IED), two pistols, 4 magazines, several batteries and a watch from the package besides cash of around Rs 5 lakh. This is not the first time that such consignment has been recovered from near the border but earlier also such cases have been reported wherein arms, ammunition and narcotics consignments have been smuggled into this side of the border. It would be much better if the locals were also taken into confidence and provided with cell phone numbers of security posts along the borders to report immediately any such movement in sky to act fast and efficiently against the Pakistani design to harm India.
