URINATING AT PUBLIC PLACES

URINATING AT PUBLIC PLACES

It is for sure that every single citizen in Jammu has seen people peeing at public places with no one to stop them or ask them to at least use public convenience complexes which have been constructed at various places in the city and its surrounding areas. This ugly shortcut of urinating at places of choice used by the people of the city is an offence as authorities can impose fine also but unfortunately the concerned civic authorities are quite liberal as hardly any case of realizing fine or any other action has been taken against these ‘uncivilized’ citizens who think that public places are meant for public abuse and there is no one who can stop them from doing this filthy action. The only practicable solution which the people of the city have found effective is writing graffiti on walls mocking those who urinate in public by calling names like donkeys, etc. To be more specific, the verbatim slang which people use is –Dekho Gadha/ Kutta Paishab Kar Raha Hai, which is offensive and not good for the image of the city. The situation in Jammu City is so worse that people having knowledge of streets and paths of the walled city must be knowing the fact that there is a street known as ‘Gali Peshab Aali’, which is testimony to the fact that the problem of urinating in public places is quite alarming despite government’s best efforts of constructing public convenience complexes between short stretches all across the city and also in the outskirts. This inappropriate act is a very embarrassing sight, especially when people are on the move along with their families. The unbearable stench of urine at certain corners of the city is contagious and depicts Jammu in bad light which is not a healthy sign for a city which is having tourism as its mainstay and is soon going to become a full fledged Smart City. The worst example is the streets adjoining the famous Rehri Zone in Gandhi Nagar. The stains of urine after the so-called food lovers and those for whom this rehri zone is a drinking zone relieve their urinary bladders on these open areas making it evident that Jammuites would never mend their ways, come what may. There is no reason to defend this unhygienic practice of city dwellers and it should be discouraged at all levels by taking strict actions.
