RIGHT APPROACH

It is time to hail both the Union Territory Administration and the Yuva Rajput Sabha for amicably resolving the logjam over the issue of holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh, which falls on September 23. Hats off to the Jammu and Kashmir Government for rightly convincing the aforesaid organization to at least give considerable time to the concerned quarters to go through all the pros and cons before taking the decision over the issue. The maturity shown by the leaders of the Yuva Rajput Sabha and those supporting their agitation is also laudable because confrontational path is not the solution of all problems because in the present case, the issue is of people of J&K, those who were steering the stir were also from J&K and above all the government which has to decide whether there will be a holiday or not is also of Jammu and Kashmir, therefore finding a viable way to resolve things was advisable and the way things have rolled down is precisely the best one. It is pertinent to mention that the Yuva Rajput Sabha has suspended its 14-day long chain hunger strike and agitation on the assurance of Divisional administration. The Divisional Administration Jammu has called a meeting with the Yuva Rajput Sabha members and assured that the process of filing of report by the Committee constituted for giving its recommendations on the issue of holiday on Maharaja Hari Singh’s birthday has been forwarded to the office of Lt Governor and it was under active consideration of the Government. The Administration has given a positive signal on the outcome of the proposal being sent to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and thus the matter has been resolved successfully. Currently, the J&K is passing through critical times as the government and security agencies are concentrating to wipe out terrorism, therefore such agitations can hamper the efforts of the dispensation because the law and order situation can be deteriorated by such agitations giving an edge to anti-national elements. The government should not further mull over the issue and come up with a foolproof solution so that things remain under control and do not spiral as maintaining peace and order should be the first priority for the betterment of people of J&K UT.
