JAMMUITES SHOULD COOPERATE
Towing away the wrongly parked vehicles in the city of temples is a common sight these days. Traffic Police’s mini-cranes flashing lights are acting as busy bees these days clearing the city roads of vehicles which are parked wrongly. In this context, if one talks about a couple of years back then parking vehicles at any place was justified because there were not enough parking slots in Jammu City but now the Jammu Municipal Corporation has done yeoman’s job and provided parking spaces in almost all the markets, busy roads and places where people visit for shopping, office work or personal chores and therefore it is illogical or one can say illegal to park vehicles in a haphazardly manner giving a tough time to fellow commuters and of course the government agencies which are responsible for the smooth flow of traffic. In this regard, the Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation has notified several areas in Jammu City as No Parking Zones and it becomes a bounded duty of every Jammuite to cooperate with the concerned government agencies by parking the vehicles in the stipulated spots. It is pertinent to mention that the areas declared as No Parking Zones are alongside Ganpati Food Junction (Gandhi Nagar), alongside K.C Theatre opposite parking area, Amphalla Chowk except Auto Stand, Aquaf Market Gandhi Nagar, around the crossing of D.C Office Chowk opposite to parking, Bagh-e-Bahu Temple road, Bahu Plaza Road, E.I.D Gah-Road upto Hari Singh School, Fountain Chowk Greater Kailash, Indira Chowk, Jhulaka Mohalla both side, Kachi Chawani Chowk except Auto stand, Opposite City Square Mall, Opposite Gita Bhawan Parade, Opposite Maharaja Hari Singh Park, Opposite parking area Super Specialty Hospital, Panjtirthi Chowk, Railway to Marble Market on both tubes, Vikas Nagar Road to Talli Morh, Medical College Chowk to Akhnoor Road and Pacca Danga. It is praiseworthy that the government through Department of Transport, J&K Police, Traffic Police Jammu and Jammu Municipal Corporation has made a comprehensive plan to identify and declare No Parking Zones to ensure hassle free movement of vehicles and the onus is now on Jammuites to help authorities to make Jammu City free of snarling traffic as present situation is dismal.
