COMBATING PAK TERROR PLAN
Those entities monitoring the situation in J&K closely must have the idea that things have been changed drastically with improvement in terror incidents as the security grid has been tightened considerably although plugging in gaps completely along LOC is a difficult task because there are places like small rivulets and other terrains having gaps giving room to infiltrators to come to this side along with arms and ammunition to vitiate peace. There is no doubt that unlike earlier days the scenario has been changed and the security grid has seen lots of improvements disallowing the infiltrators to get in to this side of the country but inclement weather conditions and other factors at times give them the opportunity to sneak which is to be looked after as soon as possible. The Indian security forces especially the army is well versed with the Pakistan’s designs to hit the tranquility in the UT of J&K and therefore is working constantly to put an end to the infiltration like the way the cross border firing was stopped by maintaining pressure on rogue nation Pakistan. There is no doubt that after the August 5, 2019 changes in J&K the Pakistan is desperate and frustrated and is trying to infiltrate terrorists and send in arms and ammunition into Kashmir despite a robust anti-infiltration grid in place. The army is doing herculean job in containing the terrorism by complete monitoring of the border belts and therefore the rate of terror incidents have been reduced considerably. It is however necessary for the country to take appropriate steps both diplomatically and militarily to ensure that borders with Pakistan become insulated and no soul from the rogue country could come to this side without proper documentation and legal formalities. In a press briefing the General Officer Commanding (GoC) of the Army’s 19 Infantry Division Major General Ajay Chandpuri has informed that the LoC is over 740 km which includes very difficult terrain and then there were spells of inclement weather, and despite the vigilance, there are gaps from where the Pakistanis try and infiltrate terrorists and war-like stores. It has been averred that 15-20 launch pads close to the LoC are being used to push in terrorists towards this side though many have been eliminated enroute. Beyond any doubt the army is doing yeoman’s job and has been playing significant role in containing terrorism. It can be said with full assurance that sooner than later there will be complete elimination of terrorists as terrorism is on last leg and soon the army along with other security forces will put an end to terrorism in J&K.
