Basant Rath again shared the post, said – wants to be active in the electoral politics of J&K

Former IGP Traffic Basant Rath has once again posted his resignation on social media on Monday. In this, he has talked about participating in the electoral politics of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh by voluntary retirement. He has sent this resignation letter to Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir.

Basant Rath has written in his resignation letter re-issued on Twitter- ‘Please accept my humble request for voluntary retirement from the Indian Police Service. I want to join electoral politics in J&K and Ladakh.

The letter further read, ‘As a member of the Indian Police Service, I am indebted to the Government of India for giving me the privilege of serving the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. It is an honor to serve in the prestigious IPS and I leave this position with great satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment that I have given my best to my people. I hope you will accept my request for voluntary retirement.

Earlier on Sunday, Basant Rath surprised everyone by posting his resignation letter on social media. In this, he told that he can soon join electoral politics. In July 2020, Basant Rath was suspended by the Central Government with immediate effect.
