J&K: Selection list of Police Sub Inspector may be cancelled, Lt Governor orders inquiry

There will be an investigation into the alleged irregularities in the recruitment of Sub Inspector in Jammu and Kashmir Police. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that the investigation into allegations of rigging in recruitment would be headed by Principal Secretary, Home Department, RK Goel. The selection list of 1200 sub-inspectors in Jammu and Kashmir Police has been released by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Recruitment Board only on June 4 and since that day it is in the midst of controversy. The candidates deprived of getting a place in the selection list have alleged rigging and nepotism in the selection.

The candidates who were out of the selection list released for 1200 vacancies of Sub Inspector are performing continuously. He is referring to about two dozen real brothers and sisters included in the selection list, saying that there may be one or two such cases, but having two dozen cases is completely doubtful. Some of the selected candidates are related to each other. Apart from this, it is also alleged that about 60 candidates studying at the same place are also in the selection list.

For the first time in the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department, the Jammu and Kashmir Service Recruitment Board was entrusted with the task of recruiting sub-inspectors last year. Earlier, the police department had its own recruitment board conducting this process at its own level. When the Lieutenant Governor administration had entrusted the JKSSB with the task of recruiting sub-inspectors, it was said that this is being done to make the selection process completely fair and transparent. At that time, various people in the state had objected to the separation of the police department from the selection process, saying that the process of police administration is much better. The written examination of the aspirants who wanted to become a Sub Inspector was held on 27 March 2022. About 97 thousand candidates had participated in this process.
