PLAY SAFE

As the travel and transport has become restriction-free in the country and J&K being the major tourism destination especially with hotels and other boarding facilities reportedly showing fully packed tags, there is dire need that people whether the tourists or the local catering to the needs of visitors must follow basic covid safety protocols as reports coming are showing upward trend of the disease in many parts of the country. it is pertinent to mention that yesterday only India reported nearly 41 per cent spike in new covid cases in a span of just 24 hours. As far as cases are concerned, a total of 5,233 fresh cases were recorded in a span of 24 hours as against 3,714 reported on the previous day. This upward trend is quite disturbing because earlier also things started spiraling in the same manner, which ultimately took the shape of the worst ever pandemic in the history of mankind. Though it is good that placebo is in place with nearly 195 crore population covered under one of the largest vaccination programmes in the whole world, mutations and variants of the disease can pose a grave risk at any time therefore remaining cautious against the disease is always a better option. The country has also reported seven covid deaths in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide death toll to 5,24,715, which means that danger is still there and becoming complacent is not at all advisable. J&K is more vulnerable to disease coronavirus as tourists throng the UT in large numbers during summer season as there are holidays in schools, colleges and universities across the country thus giving rise to risk of covid spread. Although covid protocols are no longer mandatory, it is always good to be cautious against such things which have the potential to even take away the lives of the people. The active caseload of the country has also risen to 28,857, accounting for 0.07 per cent of the country’s total positive cases. The approach of one and all should be to make it sure that not even a single case of disease may come as it is known to one and all that by taking precautions this could become a reality. Playing safe against the disease is not only a good idea but is also necessary for saving lives as corona still is a dangerous disease and is snatching away lives though the death rate is not so alarming as it was during the first, second and third waves of the disease.
