THREAT OF MAGNETIC BOMBS
The advent of magnetic bombs in the UT of J&K has become a new headache for the security forces because the same can prove catastrophic because planting them on vehicles is very easy but locating them after being fitted by the terrorists quite difficult. These dangerous bombs have been provided to the ultras in J&K by Pakistan as reportedly the first consignment of these bombs came through International border in Samba sector as it was recovered by the security forces in early 2021. With the Amarnath Yatra around the corner, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir are concerned over terror outfits possessing these sticky explosives that can be attached to vehicles and detonated remotely. No doubt there is tough time in offing for the security forces as this relatively new threat needs revamping of security Bandobast and revisiting the standard operating procedure for the entire period of Shri Amarnathji Yatra commencing from June 30 and remaining on till August 11, the day of Raksha Bandhan. As the unmanned aerial vehicles’ sorties from Pakistan has increased considerably, there is a threat looming large that sticky bombs have may have found way in Valley and other parts of the UT thus complicating the situation as far as security perspective is concerned. It is pertinent to mention that few days ago a Pakistani drone had dropped over half a dozen magnetic bombs inside Indian territory which were later recovered by the security forces making it evident that Pakistan has not mended its ways and is persistently involved in denting the interests of India through these ill-conceived designs to spread terror and inflict damage using terror as a tool. The security forces have already started making appeals to the people to maintain extra vigil and inspect their vehicles before igniting the same as the new threat is looming large and the commercial passenger vehicles are more prone to such threats. As far as the upcoming Amarnath Yatra is concerned, the new SOP batted to park all such vehicles whether of pilgrims or security forces to places away from the temporary shelters constructed for the pilgrims to raise the security level.
