SITUATION CRUCIAL
It is the time that government should revisit its security Bandobast in the Valley as things are slowly going out of hands because the terrorists are persistently carrying out attacks and the security forces are unable to tighten noose around the violence mongers. This needs to be tackled through multi-faceted strategy as targeted killings are something which have caused fear psychosis among one and all in the Valley. The new modus operandi of terror mongers in the Valley is to ‘hit’ soft targets and run. Of course containing this is not an easy job because terrorists come from nowhere and carry out terror strikes thus killing or injuring their targets and then safely leaving the spot because it is not possible for the government to provide security to each and every individual living in the UT of J&K. despite the seriousness of the matter and the aforesaid complicacy, the government cannot leave people on the mercy of God because the situation has turned so critical that no one knows who will be the next target of the terrorists working on the behest of their masters sitting across the border as lately the stand of Pakistan at different international forums has become public that the rogue nation is supporting terrorism in J&K and is the main player behind the insurgency in the UT. No doubt that the security forces are on toes to eliminate terrorists as and when they got any information in this regard but it is unfortunate that targeted killings are going on unabatedly. Just take the example of today only, three Pakistani terrorists were killed by security forces in an encounter in the Baramulla district. Like in many similar cases, after getting information, the security forces launched cordon and search operation, which turned into an encounter after the hiding terrorists fired at the security forces. In the operation three terrorists were killed while a cop of the JKP also got martyred in the encounter. This shows that situation has turned grim because yesterday only a cop was killed by the terrorists in the Valley while his daughter was injured. This kind of vicious cycle of violence is unacceptable and therefore the government should change its strategy or bring in more troops in Kashmir to ensure that no one can dare to pick up arms as the safety of the common man is the responsibility of the government.
