Yasin Malik convicted for inciting terrorism in Kashmir, May 25 will be debated on punishment


Srinagar: Separatist leader Yasin Malik, who funded terrorism, separatist activities in Kashmir, has been convicted by the NIA Court. It is believed that Malik could be sentenced to life imprisonment. However, the debate will be started from May 25 to decide the term of Yasin Malik’s sentence. Special Judge Praveen Singh will hear the arguments of lawyers regarding quantum of punishment for all the offenses leveled against separatist leader Yasin Malik.
All the evidence gathered against Yasin Malik was presented in the special court of NIA in Delhi on Thursday. During this, the court also sought an affidavit from Yasin Malik regarding the details of his assets. Not only this, the court also directed the NIA to submit a report related to the assets of Yasin Malik. With this, the judge announced to fix May 25 as the next date of hearing for the arguments on the sentence.
Let us tell you that earlier the separatist leader had accepted all the charges leveled against him under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). Malik was charged under UAPA under sections 16 (terrorist act), 17 (raising funds for terrorist act), 18 (conspiracy to commit terrorist act), and 20 (being a member of a terrorist gang or organization) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy). and was charged under section 124-A (sedition) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Yasin reportedly did not contest the charges before the court.
Charges have also been filed against Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Saeed and Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin in the chargesheet prepared by the NIA. Apart from this, Yasin Malik, Shabbir Shah, Masarat Alam, former MLA Rashid Engineer, businessman Zahoor Ahmed Shah Watali, Bitta Karate, Aftab Ahmed Shah, Avtar Ahmed Shah, Naeem Khan, Bashir Ahmed Bhat alias Peer Saifullah and others have also been made accused. has gone.
