Confirming this, the board officials said that the fire started from Palel 4th falling in Agar Jitto and soon it engulfed the Guddi Dhar forests adjoining the New Tarakote track. Efforts are on to control the fire. Smoke spread on the battery car road. This is the reason why this route has been closed for devotees.

The board also clarified that there is no impact on the journey due to closure of the battery car route. Devotees are constantly marching towards the temple of Mata Vaishno Devi from the Ardh-virgin road. Sources said that the fire spread during the night. The cause of the fire is not yet known, but the fire started from Palel Chautha, a village adjacent to Agar Jitto.

He said that the fire in the forests near the helipad has now been extinguished. Devotees of Mata Vaishno Devi are using helicopter and cable car service. The Board has decided to suspend the battery car service till the fire is completely brought under control. Devotees are coming by foot, horse and palanquin from the old route.
