MAKE IT REGULAR AFFAIR
It is strange that despite crucial situation along borders whether International or the Line of Control a chance has been given to the enemy nation to clandestinely construct a tunnel to ensure that terrorists can be sneaked into Indian side as was suspected by the security agencies after two foreign terrorists were eliminated in Sunjwan area just ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Palli Village in Samba District. The BSF should always be on toes to detect such activities along the borders as India is not in a position to afford such lapses because a tunnel has been detected in Samba District near the International Border. No doubt that now the security forces will take all the measures to counter the ploy of the rogue nation Pakistan but it is unfortunate that yet again Pakistan has used old modus operandi to carry out an attempt to dent the interests of the country. Soon after it was cleared that the slain foreign terrorists entered the country from Samba Sector, an anti-tunnel operation was launched by the BSF and finally the place was detected from where the infiltration was being carried out. Of course it is difficult to gauge that by now how many of the terrorists have entered the country but detection of this under cover route will at least stop more infiltration. As per BSF, a small opening was found in the general area near fencing in the Samba area, which is suspected to be a tunnel. On April 22, two Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists were neutralised in an encounter in the Sunjwan area of Jammu.
It was established during an investigation that they were picked up by a mini truck from the Supwal area of Samba and had infiltrated from somewhere there. Thereafter
BSF had launched a massive anti-tunnelling operation in the area at the time, and yesterday, a tunnel was detected by the BSF jawans at the international border in the Samba sector. It is necessary that the BSF and other security forces engaged in securing borders should make it a regular feature to detect such activities as already terrorists have used this modus operandi to carry out terrorist attacks in J&K.
