ROOTING OUT CORRUPTION

ROOTING OUT CORRUPTION

There is a visible change in the governance model in J&K after the BJP Government led by PM Narendra Modi took over the reins of the country in the year 2014. J&K was the state before 2014, which figured among top three states of the country whenever there was an assessment on the basis of corruption. It was BJP government under PM Modi that the tag associated with J&K of one of the most corrupt states of the country has been removed as the corruption is being tackled systematically with delinquent getting the befitting treatment under strict administration lead by LG Manoj Sinha and of course those monitoring the newly carved out UT under the direct control of central dispensation. Unlike successive governments, under the BJP regime no one has been able to level allegations of corruption against any minister of the incumbent government at the Centre. The assertion that the Modi Government wanted to root out corruption by bringing change in the system has solid basis and people have started feeling the change because day in and day out corrupt people are being caught and put behind bars without any leniency or prejudice. one can say with affirmation that in J&K the BJ government led by PM Modi is committed to establish the rule of law, root out corruption and drug menace, provide quality education and affordable health services to the people as every next day actions are being carried out to ensure all the aforesaid things without any lethargy. in this context, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the Station House Officer (SHO) of Loran Police station in Poonch district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant. This is not the solitary case as many other similar cases are there where habitual offenders are treated befittingly to show them that the days of corruption are over and from now onwards honesty is the best policy to remain in service. It is pertinent to mention that a case was registered against the accused cop on a complaint over the allegations of demanding bribe. The CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red- handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant. There is still time for the corrupt officials in the J&K UT to mend their ways as the government wouldn’t tolerate this anymore as rooting out corruption is the ultimate aim of UT administration and the centre.
