District admin focusing on development activities, besides implementation of Covid protocols: Anshul Garg
Positivity rate drops to 6.3% in Jammu district
JAMMU, MAY 28: Deputy Commissioner Jammu Anshul Garg today said that development activities are the prime focus of District Administration along with implementing Covid-19 protocols and restrictions in the district.
He was briefing the media persons regarding the Covid situation in Jammu district.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the positivity rate has declined to 6.3% in the last four days as the district administration intensified testing, contact tracing and treatment to curb Covid-19 pandemic. He further informed that there are only six thousand five hundred active cases in the district which are monitored by the District Control Room.
The Deputy Commissioner also said that vaccination of 45+ age group is almost complete and emphasis is being laid on 18+ vaccination drives through special camps in which shopkeepers, helpers, bank employees, lawyers, widows, orphans and the public in general have been given priority for inoculation.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the special initiative has been taken by the Social Welfare Department, Labour Department and FS& CAPD to provide pension, ration and financial aid to construction works. He also informed that more than 8500 works have been initiated under MGNREGA, besides many projects have been started under B2V, languishing and mega projects.
The Deputy Commissioner cautioned that despite the decrease in positive cases, the people should not lower the guard against Coronavirus. He also stated that the people should adhere to SOPs in letter and spirit, which is an effective tool to contain the spread of this infection.
He said that people should keep following restrictions and SOPs/guidelines issued by the Administration for Breaking the Chain.
