Meets public delegations, takes stock of their grievances

POONCH, MAY 13: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer, today conducted an extensive tour of Poonch and reviewed the development works being executed in the district in a meeting of concerned officers.

The meeting was attended by District Development Commissioner, Inderjeet; Senior Superintendent of Police, Vinod Kumar besides officers of Health, Education, Agriculture, Horticulture, Rural Development, PWD, JPDCL, Jal Shakti, Social Welfare and other concerned departments.

DDC gave a brief description about the district profile besides highlighting the physical and financial progress achieved by different departments under several schemes. He elaborately presented the status of ongoing works sanctioned and approved under different schemes including languishing projects, district Capex, Back to Village, MGNREGA, 14th FC besides detailing several welfare schemes being implemented by different departments in the district.

Div Com, while reviewing the Education sector, directed the Chief Education Officer to improve the literacy rate across the district besides asking the concerned to reduce the drop-out rate by taking all the appropriate measures.

While reviewing the Health sector, Div Com directed the concerned officers to expedite the process of registration of beneficiaries under Ayushman Bharat, PM-JAY SEHAT scheme. He instructed the officers to open registration counters at government hospitals for expediting the registration under the scheme. He also directed for early completion of ongoing Covid mopping survey besides ensuring 100 per cent testing of incoming travelers at entry points of the district to contain the spread of virus in the district. He also passed directions for increasing vaccination sites in the district so that 100 per cent vaccination of target groups can be ensured.

Div Com also reviewed Back to Village, Bunkers, MGNREGA and other RDD works being executed in the district. He took strong notice of low registration of contractors and directed ACD to expedite the process and complete registration of contractors as it is necessary for smooth execution of works at village level. He also reviewed the PMAY (Rural/ Urban) scheme and directed the concerned to release first instalment in favour of all the eligible beneficiaries.

He directed the RDD department to work on clearing the previous liabilities and submit the report to the District Development Commissioner.

Regarding the Agriculture sector, Div Com directed the concerned to activate field functionaries to look at the reasons for the gap between PM-KISAN and KCC. He asked the Chief Agriculture officer to enhance the Button mushroom and Honey cultivation in the district as there is huge potential for the same.

Div Com also reviewed digitization of land records and was apprised about the progress on scanning and preparation of Jamabandies in the district. He directed the Revenue Department to activate field functionaries and expedite the process for its timely completion.

While reviewing the power sector, Div Com directed the JPDCL for early commissioning of 132 KV Daraba Surankote transmission line.

Div Com also reviewed in detail the projects being executed by Jal Shakti, JPDCL, PWD, PMGSY and other departments in the district. He emphasized effective and regular monitoring of works saying that “monitoring and supervision of development works is vital for obtaining tangible results.

Later, Div Com met with several delegations led by the District Development Council Chairpersons, Vice Chairpersons and members and listened to their grievances issues concerning their respective areas.

The delegations put forth their demands which inter alia included improved road connectivity, renovation of school buildings, better Health facilities, up-gradation of Jal Shakti and Power infrastructure, rationalization teaching staff in schools, early completion of Mini secretariat work, opening of Mughal Road, BADP funds, shortage of doctors, early commissioning of Oxygen generation plant, resumption of chopper service and other issues of public concern.

Div Com issued on the spot directions to the concerned departments for timely solution of the projected issues. He assured the Public/ deputations that all their genuine demands would be met on priority.

Meanwhile, members of civil society also interacted with the Div Com and apprised him of several issues and appreciated the efforts of district administration in containing the Covid-19 virus.
