GDC Ramgarh organized One Day Seminar on the topic ‘The Power of Language and its Cultural Influence’

JAMMU, FEB 22:GDC Ramgarh organized One Day Seminar on the topic ‘The Power of Language and its Cultural Influence’ on 22-02-2021. The Seminar was organized to commemorate International Mother Language Day which is celebrated every year on 21st February.
The Resource Persons in Seminar were Prof. B.B. Sharma, Principal (Retd.), Department of Sanskrit, Dr. Ashu Vashisht, Principal GDC Ramkot, Dr. Parveen Kumari. Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi, GDC Majalta. All the Speakers spoke in length about the importance of the Mother tongue and the need for its preservation which will be treasure for our future generations.
The Seminar was held in two Sessions. After the Inaugural in the morning session, Prof. B.B. Sharma enlightened the students about the importance and power of Mother Language. He added that the importance of language lies not only in National unity but also strengthening the culture of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ashu Vashisht said that languages are nourished only by constant use and that every day must be a Matrabhasha Diwas. She called for all round commitment and efforts to reclaim mother tongue. We should feel proud, of our mother languages, to speak freely and confidently in one’s homes, community, meetings and administration.
In the Post Lunch session, Dr. Parveen Kumari during her Lecture said that while the world celebrates its multilinguistic nature, our country India is proud to have several languages in one country itself. It was followed by an Interactive Session with students who enthusiastically participated in the session.
In the Valedictory Session, Prof. (Dr.) Meeru Abrol,
Principal, GDC Ramgarh thanked all the Resource Persons. She highlighted that National Education Policy-2020 has given maximum attention to the development of mother tongues. The Government has emphasized on promoting multilingualism with this policy so that our children can get acquainted with the vast wealth of languages of our country. All the teaching and Non teaching staff of the College actively participated in the Seminar.
