Ashok Kumar Former Legislature, Ramban and Senior Congress leader of Jammu and Kashmir has urged upon the Chairman Jammu and Kashmir board of school education (JKBOSE) and Director of School Education that the syllabus of class 10th and 12thshould be reduced up to 50% in upcoming board examination as most of the students belongs to rural and remote areas have not able to cover syllabus due to lack of proper internet facilities and prolonged lockdown since last one year in Jammu and Kashmir. Ashok has said that due to prolonged lockdown under covid-19 pandemic students were not able to attend regular classes. In addition, in absence of proper internet facilities and smart tech instruments, students were unable to attend online classes and lacks the study material and classes.
It becomes imperative for government to reduce the syllabus at least to 50% at such a juncture in absence of basic smart tech facilities to the students. Government must re-look and revise the current policy related to the board examination of 10th and 12th class in Jammu and Kashmir.
Ashok further said that the syllabus should be reduced to 50% and chapters should also be mentioned in 50% reduction of the syllabus so that rural students who doesn’t have facilities like tutorials and extra classes could smoothly attempt the upcoming board examination.
Ashok stressed upon the government that all board examination should be conducted only after following all covid-19 protocol such as sanitizing of examination centres, hand wash and sanitize facilities, providing quality face masks, adhering proper social distancing while conducting seating arrangements for examination. Ashok also demanded that transport facilities for students should also be provided by government at every examination centre along with medical experts.
