Ishfaq Jabbar led delegation met Div Com will complete the work before 20 Aug, Chief Engineer I&FC assured delegation

 

Srinagar 11 Aug: National Conference Senior Leader and former MLA Ganderbal Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar led delegation comprising people of different walks of life from Fakh area of Ganderbal today called on Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Sh. Pandurang K. Pole in Srinagar and briefed him about the problems faced by the people of Fakh area.

In a statement Sheikh Ishfaq said that he apprised the Div Com about the breach spot on the Sindh Extension Canal at Malshahibagh and demanded that work on breached spot on the Sindh Extension Canal at Malshahibag should be expedited and the canal should be charged within the shortest possible time.

The former MLA said that the people in many areas of Fakh in Ganderbal district are without portable water besides several hectares of agricultural land has become barren due to lack of irrigation facilities.

He demanded that the free ration for at least three months should be distributed free of cost to the mostly affected villages as the administration has advised them to grow/ plant maize instead of paddy due to lack of irrigation facilities.

The  Chief Engineer, I&FC briefed the Div Com about the excavation plan and current progress of the repair work and assured the delegation that the work will be completed before 20 August.

To ensure that the affected areas receive adequate irrigation facilities for their crops the Div Com directed the concerned Chief Engineer to ensure sufficient number of irrigation pumps to overcome the shortage of water in the affected areas.

The delegation also raised and discussed different demands of Fakh area which include Fire Service Station, upgradation of Dispensaries, infrastructure and accommodation besides other issues and demands.

They also demanded that the Rakh e Zakura scheme should be sanctioned for which DPR has already been made.

The Div Com assured the delegation that the issues raised by them would be reviewed periodically to assess the progress.
