2 policemen, panch injured in separate militant attacks in south Kashmir

A BJP panch and two policemen were injured in two separate militant attacks in south Kashmir on Tuesday, official sources said.

They said militants fired at a panch, reportedly affiliated with BJP, near his residence at Qazigund on Tuesday evening. “The panch, identified as Arif Ahmad, was critically injured in the attack,” they said, adding the wounded was rushed to a local hospital.

They said the militants managed to escape from the spot, adding security forces have been rushed to the area and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers.

In another incident, militants lobbed a grenade at a police party near Wanpora in Pulwama, resulting in injuries to two policemen. “The injured, identified as Constable Khurshid Ahmad and Special Police Officer (SPO) Ishfaq Ahmad, were rushed to a local hospital, where their health condition is stated to be stable. “Additional forces have been rushed to the area and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers,” they added.
