Jammu based Military Hospital saves COVID positive boy

Jammu based Army Hospital saved life of 12 year old boy tested positive for coronavirus, Defence spokesperson said here on Tuesday.

He said that resident of R S Pura, the boy was admitted on June 16 in a very serious condition at Military Hospital, Jammu. The boy was suffering from high grade fever and was having difficulty in breathing.

He was complaining of chest pain and was in a state of shock.

The boy’s COVID test was carried out which came out to be positive. Subsequently the child also developed pneumonia and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) which is a life threatening condition.

A team of Army doctors with advanced pediatric protocols and other critical care measures including fluids, inotropes, steroids, IVIG, antibiotics, oxygen and respiratory supportive measures stabilised the boy, the spokesperson further said.

The child was kept on invasive ventilation for seven days. The timely life saving treatment administered by the pediatrician along with his team saved the child from the disease, he added.

The parents of the boy thanked the Frontline Warriors of Military Hospital, Jammu for bringing  back joy into their lives and for always being there during times of need.
