Four more COVID-19 positive patients died in Kashmir, taking the number of fatalities due to the disease in Jammu and Kashmir to 111, officials said on Thursday.
Two COVID-19 positive patients died at SKIMS Soura hospital while other two died at SMHS hospital, the officials said.
The deaths at SKIMS Soura hospital include a 55-year-old man from Kulgam and a 65-year old man from Sopore, they said.
According to officials, a 55-year-old man from Yaripora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district died around midnight.
“He was admitted to the hospital on June 22 with “hypertension with T2 DM with multifocal encephalopathy,” they said.
A 65-year-old man from Sopore area of north Kashmir passed away at around 3 am, the officials said.
They said he was also admitted to the hospital on June 22 and was suffering from hypertension and community-acquired pneumonia. The cause of the death was sudden cardiopulmonary arrest, the officials added.
The deaths at SMHS hospital include a 75-year-old man from Wadwan area of Budgam and a 65-year-old woman from Batamaloo area of Srinagar.
According to officials, both the deaths occurred yesterday and their swab samples returned positive for the covid-19 today.
Both of them, who were admitted to the hospital on Wednesday, had underlying ailments including hypertension and bilateral pneumonia, the officials said, adding that the woman was also suffering from Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
With these deaths, the number of COVID-19 fatalities in Jammu and Kashmir has risen to 111- — 98- in Valley and 13 in Jammu division
Srinagar, with 26 deaths tops the list of Covid-19 fatalities followed by 18 in Baramulla, 14 in Kulgam, 12 in Shopian, nine in Anantnag, eight each in Budgam & Jammu, six in Kupwara, four in Pulwama and one each in Bandipora, Udhampur, Doda, Kathua, Poonch and Rajouri districts.
