Encounter begins in Pathanpora area of Budgam district in Jammu and Kashmir

An encounter has started at Pathanpora area of Budgam district on Jammu and Kashmir. Police and security forces are carrying out the operation, Kashmir Zone Police have said. This is the fourth encounter within a week. In a major success for the security forces in the Kashmir valley, a total of 27 terrorists have been eliminated in the past about two weeks.

Earlier this week, nine terrorists of the banned terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen were gunned down by the police and the Indian Army in two separate operations. On Wednesday, five more terrorists were killed in an operation in Sugoo area of Shopian district.

Meanwhile, Pakistan initiated ceasefire violation at multiple locations in Jammu & Kashmir on Wednesday night. Shelling was reported in Manjakote sector at 10.20 pm, in Keri Sector at 10.40 pm, in the Balakote sector at 10.30 pm, in Karol Maitran at 10.50 pm. Indian security forces retaliated.

A man was injured in shelling by Pakistan in Manjakote sector of Rajouri district last night. He was later brought to the hospital.  “He has a shell injury in his right shoulder. After x-ray & ortho consultation we removed the shell. He is stable and under observation,” the doctor told news agency ANI.
