Three terrorists gunned down by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian; 25 killed in just two weeks

Three unidentified terrorists have been killed in the encounter in Sugoo area of Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. Police and security forces are carrying out the operation, that is currently underway, J&K Police said on Wednesday.

“A joint operation was launched at 0145h today based on J K Police intelligence. Cordon was laid and contact was established at 5.30 am. Security Forces eliminated three terrorists. Joint operation in progress,” a Northern Command official told Times Now.

The encounter started at Sugoo area of Shopian district. This is the third operation within the past 72 hours. On Monday, the security forces neutralised four terrorists belonging to terror outfit- Hizbul Mujahideen in a joint operation. Earlier, on Sunday, five terrorists of the same outfit were killed in yet another operation in Reban area of Shopian.

“9 terrorists of Hizbul Mujahideen have been killed in operations that were carried out yesterday and today. In the last 2 weeks, 9 big operations were carried out in which 22 terrorists have been eliminated including six top commanders,” Jammu and Kashmir DGP, Dilbag Singh said on Tuesday.
