With 143 persons, including 100 from Kashmir and 43 from Jammu, testing positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, the total number of infected people in the Union Territory of J&K has risen to 3467.Of the 143 new positive cases, 44, including 10 from Jammu, are those, who have recently returned from outside J&K.Meanwhile, the death toll has risen to 39 with three persons dying due to COVID-19 on Saturday in the Union Territory, where 40 positive patients were discharged from hospitals, after being treated successfully.
An official on Saturday said that 100 more people tested positive for Coronavirus in Kashmir division, while 43 new cases were reported from Jammu. “Shopain recorded the highest number of 64 new COVID-19 cases, followed by Bandipora with 14 cases,” he said, adding that 11 people tested positive for the infection in Kathua
“Jammu registered 10 new COVID-19 cases,” he said, adding that six people tested positive for the infection in Udhampur.He said Ramban and Rajouri and Budgam recorded four new cases each, while three persons each tested positive for COVID-19 in Srinagar, Anantnag, Kulgam, Poonch. “Samba and Reasi witnessed two cases each,” he said, adding one person tested positive from Doda.
With 143 new cases, he said the total number of infected persons in J&K has risen to 3467. “Out of these, 2615 are in Kashmir and 852 are in Jammu,” he said.
The total active positive cases in the UT stood at 2302, including 1646 from Kashmir and 656 from Jammu.
He said 40 COVID-19 patients from J&K were discharged on Saturday, after being treated successfully. “As many as 1126 positive patients have been treated and discharged successfully so far,” he said.
Ten districts of Jammu have reported five fatalities while 34 people have lost their lives due to COVID-19 in ten districts of Kashmir.
With two deaths in Kashmir, the death toll in Shopian has risen to four while the number has swelled to two in Kupwara. COVID-19 has claimed nine lives in Srinagar, making it the worst affected district in terms of highest number of casualties due to the disease followed Baramulla with seven fatalities. Anantnag stands at number three with five deaths while Kulgam and Shopian at number four with four fatalities each.
