BJP is not to be blamed for 4g: Brig Gupta

Restoration or otherwise of 4g in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir is out of the purview of Bharatiya Janata Party since the issue is related to security stated Brig Veteran Anil Gupta, Spokesperson of the Party in a press release issued here today.” It is unfortunate that a matter relating to national security is being politicised by the vested interests and compulsive BJP haters. For them the day begins and ends with criticising BJP without any substance because of the popular support enjoyed by the party. Having tested their mettle in electoral battles and failed miserably repeatedly, they now survive only on creating hatred among the people on false and perceived contexts. The most unfortunate part is that in doing so they are not even concerned with the security situation in the state which affects the lives of all cutting across party lines,” stated Brig Gupta. BJP is a political party and is in no way involved in decision making process of the government.

In fact, various BJP leaders have also raised the demand for restoration of 4g from time to time but they fully understand the fact that final decision rests with the security establishment whose say in the matter is considered final and accepted by the government as a well- considered professional advice, reiterated Brig Gupta.

Only recently the Honourable Supreme Court while acknowledging this fact has said, “We do recognise that the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has been plagued with militancy, which is required to be taken into consideration.” The Bench also said, “It must be noted that the authorities have been taking steps towards easing of internet restrictions taking into account the prevailing circumstances.” The administration is taking action as per the advice of the security authorities. Even the Honourable Supreme Court has declined to hold the government responsible for the same, it is not understood how the BJP-haters are blaming BJP for the same, lamented Brig Gupta?

The Supreme Court in its order dated 11 May refused to order the restoration of 4G mobile internet services in Jammu and Kashmir, but set up a special committee, led by the Union Home Secretary to take a call on the issue after factoring in the security situation on the ground. Chief Secretary of the UT is also a member of the Committee. “I want to ask those who are blaming BJP day in and out for non-restoration of 4g in the UT that are they not guilty of the contempt of the Court,” questioned Brig Gupta.

The security experts are of the view that fast speed internet will considerably improve the communication network of the terror outfits and the speed of communication will enable it to mobilise their over ground network in a manner that it could hinder successful execution of the security forces operations. The denial of high speed internet is a major contributory factor towards the spectacular achievements of the SFs in past 6-7 months asserted Brig Gupta.

For those who continue to harp on the fact that why Jammu is being denied the same because of comparative peace, it would be suffice to say that in case fast speed internet is restored here Jammu would become the command and control hub of terrorism in UT with its associated effects on peace in the region warned Brig Gupta.
