While the govt has announced filling up of 10,000 vacancies in the Department of Health, Vety and other class posts, the recruitment rules have yet to be drafted and have probably failed to catch the attention of the helmsmen, said Mr. Harsh Dev Singh, JKNPP-Chairman and former Minister. He said that after the transition of the State to Union Territory, the earlier recruitment procedures will cease to operate and as such the new recruitment rules were required to be formulated which regretfully has not been done during the post ten months. He said that after August 5, 2019 the central and state BJP leaders tall announcements of creating 50,000 new jobs as also filling up of the existing vacancies thereby suggesting that around 80,000-90,000 youth could be absorbed in govt jobs on fast truck basis. It is however disturbing to note that the govt has finally come up an announcement that 10,000 vacancies would be notified shortly for filling up without uttering a single word about the creation of 50,000 vacancies announced earlier with much fan fare.
Pointing further towards the official version of the govt carried in various newspapers that preference would be given to widows, divorced women, single mothers and other destitutes in govt jobs, Mr. Singh said that the move was appreciable but needed to be notified by enacting appropriate legislation and rules in respect thereof. “No one had the authority or discretion to give preference to any class or category of candidates without framing requisite rules over the subject and publishing those rules before issuance of recruitment notification. And while the rules are nowhere and no action even initiated on the subject, the govt has announced to hold the selections in June. Appears ridiculous. And perhaps a further attempt to hoodwink the innocent gullible unemployed youth of J&K at the behest of a fast dissipating BJP in the J&K UT, said Singh. Drawing further the attention of the govt towards defunct PSC and SSB, Mr. Singh called for early nomination of members of proven integrity and probity to the said bodies besides provision of adequate infrastructure. He however hailed the Lt. Governor and the Chief Secretary for their announcement to do away with the practice of interviews which paved way for massive corruption and manipulating the selections.
