Eight more persons were on Monday tested positive for Coronavirus in Kashmir valley, bringing the total number of infected people to 49 in J&K.
An official told UNI that eight people tested positive for Coronavirus on Monday in Kashmir. “Four more persons were tested positive, including one from S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), in the evening in the valley,” he said.
He said earlier in the day, two positive cases were reported from Srinagar and as many from Shopian, adding they were all contacts of previous positive cases. “Three Coronavirus cases were reported from Jammu division,” he added.
Confirming the development, J&K Union Territory spokesperson Rohit Kansal said eight positive cases of Coronavirus were reported from Kashmir while three persons tested positive for the infection in Jammu on Monday. “As many as 11644 persons under observation while 722 samples tested so far,” he twitted.
Asserting that people are still hiding their travel history which is putting the entire society at risk, Mr Kansal reiterated strict action anyone who hid his details. “A couple which tested positive in Srinagar on Saturday hid international travel history,” he said.
A 62-year-old man died at a government hospital less than 12 hours after being tested positive for Coronavirus in Kashmir valley on Sunday, when five persons were tested positive for the infection. So far, two persons have died due to the infection while as many have been successfully treated.
The highest number of 12 positive Coronavirus cases was recorded in J&K in a single day on Saturday, triggering panic among locals despite assurance by administration that they are fully prepared to curtail the infection.
On Friday, two patients are from Chattabal while two others from Bemina in Srinagar were tested positive for Coronavirus. Two minor siblings also from Srinagar were tested positive for Coronavirus on Thursday, when a 65-year-old Hyderpora resident became the first person to die due to deadly infection in J&K.
On Wednesday, four persons, who had met the 65-year-old patient during an event in the valley, were tested positive for Coronavirus. Meanwhile, about 48 persons, who came in contact with the Hyderpora resident, have been put in quarantine centres.
