Oil Tank Drivers’ Union demands Special Eateries  at NH in J&K

 

Jammu, 27/March/2020: Amidst spread  of Corona Virus pandemic due to which all    shops including restaurant and dhabas have been closed in  Jammu and Kashmir, the worst sufferers are the drivers of the load carrier vehicles including tanks and  trucks that are     carrying  essential commodities from one place to other. In this regard, All  Jammu and Kashmir Oil  and LPG Tank Truck Drivers, Cleaners Union have urged    the Government     of India        and    Union territory administration of Jammu and Kashmir to ensure arrangement of food for drivers and cleaners.

Through a letter, S. Ranjit Singh Raina, president of the union appealed the J & K  government seeking direction for divisional commissioner of Kashmir and Jammu region to  furthe direct the concerned Deputy Commissioners of respective districts at National Highway   to issue orders to the local officers so that minimum number of   dhabas be opened at  National Highways so that these drivers may get food during their long journeys for days.

Harasis Singh, spokesperson of the Union informed that Oil and LPG Tank Trucks are continuing their duties of carrying essentials including petroleum products and LPG despite the risk of COVID19. He said that   government should also provide special passes for movement from their homes to Oil depots and safety kits to the drivers   and    cleaners      of       the Oil Tankers.
