An 18-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging self in downtown Srinagar on Sunday.
Official sources said that panic gripped Safakadal, when body of a girl was found hanging from the ceiling of her room on Sunday morning by her family members.
They said a police team was rushed to the area and the body was taken away. “It was not immediately clear why she took this extreme step,” they said, adding police has registered a case and initiated investigation to ascertain the circumstance in which she allegedly committed suicide.
They said after completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body of the deceased would be handed over to her relatives for last rites.
