Taking cognizance of the protest demonstration held yesterday by a section of POJK refugeesdemanding justice for both camp and non-camp refugees, BJP has hit back by questioning the motive of the leaders of these protests. In a press note issued here today, Brig Anil Gupta, Spokesperson of the party has clarified that a notification has already been issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) after formal announcement by none other than the Home Minister Shri Amit Shah that package earlier announced for the POJK families would be extended to 5300 families of POJK refugees who have settled outside J&K. The same was also widely reported in the media. Hence, the very purpose of the protest is questionable and appears to be politically motivated to mislead the innocent public, asserted Brig Gupta.
Explaining further Brig Gupta said that after the announcement made by the Home Minister, local BJP MPs led by Dr Jitendra Singh, MOS (IC) DONER and MOS PMO had met him and raised the issue regarding the cap of 5300 families apprehending that there may be more such families who were forced to leave J&K due to non-cooperative attitude of then administration led by Sheikh Mohd Abdullah. The delegation was assured by Amit Shah that it was an ‘in principle’ decision of the government and it was willing to accommodate the additional families as well. The same was also highlighted in the media said Brig Gupta. “With such positive and open attitude of the BJP led Central government, it is not understood as against whom and for what these protests are being carried out,” lamented Brig Gupta?
The fact remains that most of the issues having been resolved by the government these self-seeking politicians are finding themselves out of the job and hence are trying to create issues out of non-issues to remain in the business, asserted Brig Gupta. The delay if any is on part of the local administration which is still in the process of collecting the requisite data. When contacted, the local administration has clarified that they are finding it difficult to collect and verify the data and in identifying the genuine beneficiaries. Brig Gupta suggested that these leaders if interested sincerely in helping the affected families rather than getting involved in protests and photo op sessions should assist both the affected families and the administration so that the process of distributing relief can be speeded up.
