Republic Day celebrations Div Com reviews arrangements

The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan today chaired a high-level meeting to review arrangements for the celebration of upcoming Republic Day which is being celebrated on January 26 across the Division.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, DIG CRPF, DIG BSF, DIG (central) Police, SSPs of Srinagar, Traffic & Traffic Control Kashmir, Directors of Education, Health Services & Floriculture, Chief Engineers of Power, PHE, PWD & MED, GM RTC, Joint Director Forest Protection Force, Divisional Sports Officer, Deputy Director Fire & Emergency Services, Joint Commissioner SMC, Senior officers from SKIMS and other concerned were present in the meeting.

Besides Deputy Commissioners of the valley participated in the meeting through video conferencing.

It was informed that the main function will be held atCricket stadium Sonwarand Chief Guest will unfurl the National Flag and take salute atmarch past by 20 contingents. The function will start with ShenaiVadan in the morning.

The meeting discussed dias installation, barricading, cultural events, traffic regulation, parking, electricity & drinking water, sanitation, first aid, public address system, deployment of fire-tenders, ceremonial jeep, preparation of invitation cards, seating, medicare, snow clearance preparedness, transportation, and other arrangements in detail.

It was given out that the Chief Guest will felicitate top 3 March-Past contingents and Cultural groups with the cash reward of Rs 10, 000, mementos and certificates during the main function.

The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir sought details from all Deputy Commissioners of Kashmir Division regarding arrangements being put in place for Republic Day celebrations in their respective districts.

The Deputy Commissioners were asked to ensure necessary arrangements are put in place as per past practice besides ensuring participation of Officers, Pachs, Sarpanchs, ULB members and BDCs on the Republic day.

The concerned officers were asked to work in tandem for successful celebration of the National event across Kashmir Division.
