Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Nazir Sheikh today convened a meeting to review the arrangements for observing the 31st Road Safety Week schedule to be conducted from 11th January to 17th January.
Threadbare discussions were held on vital issues for organising various activities during the week-long programme.
Assistant Regional Transport Officer Inzar Ahmed Rana briefed the chair about the activities planned for the 31ist Road safety week. He informed the meeting that awareness rallies of students, medical checkup of drivers and cleaners, blood donation camps, symposium on various topics related to road safety and gifting of helmets are among the activities to be organised at District Level. He said the theme of the Road Safety Week is ‘Sadak Suraksha-Jeevan Raksha’.
While speaking during the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner asked the departments concerned to gear up their men and machinery for the event.The DC also emphasised on creating massive awareness among the people about the road safety measures and traffic rules.
It was also decided in the meeting that special bike rally would be organised to create awareness among the stakeholders. The DDC also directed the ADCs to replicate the similar functions at Subdivision level.
While speaking about traffic congestion, the DC said that District administration is planning to establish Special Rehari zones and parking places in the District. Regarding checking of traffic Violation the Deputy Commissioner said that ADCs, SDM and Executive Magistrates have the authority to check traffic violation in their respective jurisdiction.
