Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State Executive Member, Raman Suri, today said that BJP, under the dynamic leadership ofPrime Minister Sh. Narender Modi andUnion Home Minister Sh. Amit Shah, is not only fulfilling all its promises but is also bringing entire nation from Kashmir to Kanyakumari on a single platform, where message of unity and integration is sweeping pan India.
Raman Suri,while hailing Government’s decision to abolish the Toll Tax at Lakhanpur from today i.e. 1st January 2020, said such a decision is the result of genuine efforts of President of BJP J&K Sh. Ravinder Raina, General Secretary (Org.) Sh. Ashok Koul, dedicated Members of Parliament from J&K besides Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Tourism Federation of Jammu. He thanked Lieutenant Governor G.C. Murmu in efficiently implementing this decision of the government, which is meant to strengthen socio-economic ties of all states of India and simplify the tax system.
Raman Suri said that the toll post at Lakhanpur was created under Section 4 of the Jammu and Kashmir Levy of Toll Act, Samvat 1995 (Act No. VIII of 1995), and abolition of this tax was the top-most demand of J&K people after implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST).This toll tax had been leading to increase in prices of goods provided to J&K people even after imposition of GST, thereby discriminating them with respect to consumers in the rest of India and also failing the fundamental of GST that is “One Nation, One Tax”.
Raman Suri hailed Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Sh. Amit Shah in acknowledging this genuine demand of the people of J&K. Suri also thanked the government for working towards the development of J&K, be it throughestablishment of IITs, IIMs and AIIMS, or by construction of Ring Road, or by abrogating Article 370, or by including Accession Day (October 26) under the list of Holidays in J&K Government Calender 2020, and many more such acts.
Raman Suri further said, “Now transporterswill no longer have to wait in long queues at the Lakhanpur Toll Plaza, thus saving time and huge logistics costs. Now we can proudly say that the ‘One Nation, One Tax’ has been implemented in its truest sense. In this New Year, we thank the BJP government for fulfilling its promises and accepting the genuine demands of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and moving the chariot of development towads new heights.”
