Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Nazim Zai Khan personally monitored the road clearance operation at Digdol area and ensured that all stranded passengers are provided meals besides night shelter at shelter sheds and RAHAT centres.
SSP, Ramban Anita Sharma, ADC, Ramban, Ashok Sharma, DSP Traffic Ajay Anand and various officers of civil and police administration supervised the adequate arrangements for the stay of stranded passengers besides road clearance operation.
DC informed that landslides had blocked the 270-km highway, the only all-weather road linking Kashmir with rest of the country at Digdol in Ramban district yesterday.
After that administration had on job to clear the road besides providing night shelter, meals and heating arrangements to stranded passengers, he added.
DC directed authorities of executing agencies to depute adequate men and machinery to remove landslides instantly from national highway to avoid traffic breakdown besides ensuring traffic worthy road 24 X7. He appealed to the commuters to contact traffic control rooms before starting their journey on the highway.
Meantime DC also inspected RAHAT centres established by the administration along the National highway for the stay of commuters in case of blockage of road.
He directed the officers to ensure heating arrangements, eatables, sanitation and toilet facility in all RAHAT centres besides other necessary facilities for stranded passengers.
