An army soldier was martyred in Gurez Sector along the Line of Control in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. Defence sources said that Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing along Gurez Sector yesterday, in which one jawan sustained critical injuries. He succumbed to his injuries today. The sources said Indian troops retaliated to the firing in a befitting manner.
Last Wednesday, two civilians were wounded in unprovoked firing by Pakistan in Silikote area of North Kashmir’s Uri Sector.
AIR correspondent reports that ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops at the LOC in Baramulla and Kupwara districts in north Kashmir have increased during the past few months.
