KVK Samba conduct Front Line Demonstration on “Zero Seed cum Fertilizer drill”

 

 

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Samba of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Jammu conducted Front Line Demonstration on “Zero Seed cum Fertilizer drill”. The programme was conducted under the direction of Dr. K.S.Risam, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu in the village of Khokar Chack in Samba district of J&K under the aegis of Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu. More than 30 progressive farmers as well as beneficiaries has actively attend the programme. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Samba has laid Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs) after harvesting of paddy field in said village and farmers of the area were highly satisfied by the performance of the machine.

Dr. Vinod Gupta, Sr. Scientist and Head of KVK, Samba initiated the programme with the role of Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs) and their importance. He lauded the farmers for their good efforts for direct sowing of wheat after  harvesting of previous crop and requested them to promote the drill machine  at large scale in their area. He also briefed about the importance of the “Zero Seed cum Fertilizer drill” for wheat sowing.

Dr. Abhay Kumar Sinha, Agril. Engineering, demonstrated function and calibration of seed drill. He told the benefit of line sowing and direct sowing (without preparation of the field) of seed and fertilizer. He also stressed upon the total money saved in field preparation and productivity is also increased due to line sowing of seed and fertilizer. He also laid emphasis on the modern mechanization in order to save time and cost of cultivation. After brief the machine, he demonstrated zero seed cum fertilizer drill, more than one hectare paddy harvested at different farmer’s field.

Dr. Shalini Khajuria stated that the importance of the soil testing and conservation of soil by different biological methods. She also stressed for balance use of fertilizer to increase productivity and soil health. She emphasize the importance of soil in agricultural productivity and expressed concern over the rising soil erosion in the district, Samba.

At the end of the programme, the formal vote of thank was presented by Dr.Shalini Khajuria.
