Transport Commissioner, Dr. Owais Ahmed, chaired an officers’ meeting to review functioning of the Motor Vehicle Department here today.
The meeting was attended by Joint Transport Commissioner, Additional Secretary Road Safety Council, Regional Transport Officer, Jammu while RTOs Srinagar and Kathua and all ARTOs attended the meeting through video conferencing.
Dr Owais had a comprehensive review regarding implementation of transport subsidy scheme, progress on Inspection Certificate Centres, Institute of Driving Training Research, Road Accident Data Management System, besides taking stock of other issues pertaining to the department.
He exhorted upon the field staff to ensure prompt service delivery related to their respective works besides adopting people friendly approach.
Transport Commissioner issued instructions to RTOs and ARTOs to ensure strict adherence to pollution control norms besides directing them to launch special drive against vehicles devoid of required pollution certificate.
The meeting was informed that presently there are about more than 19 lakh vehicles registered with the Motor Vehicle Department.
